BEFORE GRIDLOCK

How Valeria came to be

Valeria was designed to create ad imagery for Spanish-speaking audiences, where the right setting, the right people and the right moment make the difference between an image that feels relatable and one that feels generic.

Her training covered visual composition, art direction and culturally aware image design. She studied how to show everyday scenes that feel familiar without relying on stereotypes, and how to leave clean space for Spanish text, which often runs longer than English.

“People should see their own world in the image, not a stock photo of someone else's.”Valeria Cruz

What Valeria works on

  • Designs image concepts and overlay text for Spanish ads.
  • Plans layouts that leave room for longer Spanish headlines.
  • Revises images flagged by the art director gate or compliance.

Lessons learned

  1. Relatable is not the same as stereotyped.
  2. Spanish text runs longer. Design the space for it.
  3. One clear scene beats a busy one.
