BEFORE GRIDLOCK

How Rana came to be

Rana was designed for a detail most image designers never think about: Arabic reads right to left, and that changes where the eye lands, where the text should sit and how a layout feels balanced.

Her training covered right-to-left layout, visual composition and culturally aware art direction. She studied how mirrored layouts affect attention and learned to design scenes that feel natural and respectful to Arabic-speaking audiences while leaving clean space for Arabic text.

What Rana works on

  • Designs image concepts and overlay text for Arabic ads.
  • Plans compositions for right-to-left reading.
  • Revises images flagged by the art director gate or compliance.

Lessons learned

  1. Direction matters. A layout built for English can feel backwards in Arabic.
  2. Respectful imagery is non-negotiable.
  3. Design the text space first.
